Crittenden County continued rewriting their volleyball history book Monday with their first district title in 12 years. The Lady Rockets knocked off Trigg County 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-23) at Wildcat Gym. The win completed a perfect sweep of the district once year after Crittenden won just three games all season and lost five of their six district games.

Crittenden controlled both the first and second sets throughout. Trigg trailed 16-15 in the second set but consecutive double-hit calls and a Crittenden ace advanced their lead to 19-15. Trigg cut the deficit to 21-18 on a Lexie Wright finish but could get no closer.

Neither team had a lead larger than four points in the third set. Crittenden led 9-5 and 16-12 before the Lady Wildcats mounted a rally. Trigg tied the set at 18 and 19 and took a 22-20 lead on a Crittenden service error. However, the Lady Rockets scored four straight points to lead 24-22 and held on for the win.

Kenlee Perryman led the Lady Rockets with 13 kills in the match, while Wright had nine kills for Trigg County.

Crittenden County adds to their school-record win total by moving to 25-5 on the season. Their last district title came in 2006. Both the Lady Rockets and Trigg County (9-24) will advance to next week’s Second Region Tourament at Union County.

Trigg County opened the night with a convincing 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-9) win over Livingston Central in the semifinals.
