Rebels Unable to Overcome Owensboro Catholic Offense in Loss

Drew Hartz threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns to lead Owensboro Catholic to a 50-7 win over Todd County Central Friday in Owensboro.

The Aces quickly jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter with Hartz doing most of the damage in the air.

Todd County got on the scoreboard when Bryce Nolan hit Asa Young with a 20-yard scoring pass in the second quarter, but the Rebels still trailed 28-7.

OCath led 35-7 at halftime and scored first in the second half when Sam Harrington recovered a Rebel fumble in the end zone.

Up 43-7 and with the running clock in effect, Hartz threw his fifth and final touchdown of the night to make the score 50-7 Aces with 5:50 left.

After a brief two-game winning streak, the Rebels have dropped two straight. The loss moves Todd County Central to 4-4 on the season and 1-2 in district play. The Rebels can still wrap up the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and avoid top-ranked Mayfield in the first round of the playoffs with a win against Butler County Friday.

Meanwhile, Owensboro Catholic wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the district and homefield advantage in the first three rounds of the playoffs.
