Fort Campbell track and field standout Austin Keeling is a state finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
Eligibility begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better, plus applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community, according to the Wendy’s Heisman website.
State Winners get a $500 scholarship and move on to the national level where finalists receive a $1,000 scholarship. Two national award winners will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and will be recognized during the telecast of the Heisman Trophy Presentation in December.
The state and national winners will be announced later this month.
Keeling, a senior at Fort Campbell, qualified for the Class 2A State Track Meet in three events after winning two at the region level.
