
Hopkinsville freshman Allison Wood finished 34th at the Class 3A Girls’ State Cross Country Championships Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Wood was able to survive a muddy starting area and battle her way through the field in a time of 20:57. Madison Central eighth grader Ciara O’Shea won the race in a time of 18:41.
Wood’s finish is the highest for a Hopkinsville girls’ runner since Lataviya Felder finished 26th in 2012.
