Hosts Warren East evened its record with a 56-48 victory over the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team in the Warren East Holiday Hoops Classic on Thursday.  The Rebels drop their fourth in five tries, slipping to 4-7 overall.  The Raiders win their second game of the tournament, while Todd County moves on to Friday’s third-place game against Bardstown (4-6).

Bryson Wallace scored 7 first-quarter points and Dawson Doyle knocked down two 3-pointers to help the Raiders to an early 20-9 advantage.  But in the second quarter, Clayte Weathers led the Rebels with 6 and Kimahri Briggs added 4, pulling them to within 4 at 31-26.

The Rebels continued their comeback after halftime, holding the Raiders to only 7 points.  But Todd County could only manage 10, 5 from Jon Calvery, and still trailed by a bucket at 38-36 after the third quarter.

Calvery was responsible for half of the Rebels’ scoring in the fourth as well, scoring 6 of his team-leading 15.  However, Adante Barber, who only had 2 points through three quarters, erupted for 14 over the last 8 minutes to seal the 8-point Raider victory.

After Calvery, Weathers finished with 9, and Austin Rager scored 8.

Barber’s 16 led all scorers, with Ryan Carter and Jackson Harrell each scoring 9.
