Trigg County’s 2019 football schedule will feature five home games, four new opponents, and the return of a fall break bye week.

The Wildcats will open their season Friday, Aug. 23 at Muhlenberg County. It will be the first matchup between the schools on the gridiron. Trigg last played Muhlenberg South in 2006 and Muhlenberg North in 1998. Muhlenberg County is a Class 6A school that was 3-8 last year.

Trigg County’s first home game will be Aug. 30 against former district rival Fort Campbell. The Falcons make the move to Class 2A in 2019. It will be the first time in the 46-game series history the two schools have met in an August contest.

Trigg County will travel to Calloway County Sept. 6 to play the Class 4A Lakers, who were 3-8 last year. Trigg is 9-8 all-time against Calloway with their last win coming in 2014.

The Wildcat continue their series with Ballard Memorial in 2019, making the trip to LaCenter on Sept. 13. Trigg County is 4-1 all-time against the Class 2A Bombers.

On Sept. 20, Trigg County will renew an old rivalry with Murray at Perdue Field. The schools first met in 1939 and played every year from 1953 to 1986. The last meeting was a 29-3 Murray win in 2010. Trigg’s last win over Murray came in 2008.

Trigg County begins district play Sept. 27 against Paducah Tilghman at Perdue Field. The Wildcats’ district will consist of Tilghman, Webster County, and Union County for the next four years, assuring Trigg County makes the playoffs each year.

The Wildcats will step out of district play Oct. 4 when they travel to Crittenden County. Trigg’s last loss to the Rockets in Marion came in 1999.

Trigg County will have a bye week Oct. 11 during fall break and Ham Festival weekend, breaking a streak of four consecutive seasons of having a final week bye week.

The Wildcats play the first of two consecutive district games when they travel to Webster County Oct. 18. Trigg has won eight straight games over the Trojans dating back to 2002. Trigg’s last loss in Dixon came in 1999.

Trigg County will host Union County Oct. 25 in a game that could likely determine who will host a first round home playoff game.

Trigg County closes out their regular season Nov. 1 when they host Caldwell County. The Tigers have traditionally played Mayfield in their regular season finale but have been bumped into the same Class 2A district as the Cardinals for 2019. As a result, Caldwell’s game with Mayfield was moved to earlier in the season.

Trigg County and Caldwell County have met every season since 1954, but 2019 will mark the first time they have met in a November regular season matchup.

The ten teams on Trigg County’s 2019 schedule were a combined 54-61 in 2018 with a playoff record of 6-9. Trigg County was 5-6 in 2018 and lost to Elizabethtown in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs for the second consecutive season.
