Lady Rebels Fade in Loss to Logan County

The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team started brightly Thursday night, leading after the first quarter and only trailing by 4 at the halftime break, but couldn’t maintain its first-half performance in a 52-35 loss to visiting Logan County.

The Lady Rebels slip to 1-5 in 13th-District play, and 3-16 overall.  Logan County improves to 15-8, 5-1 against district competition.

Paige Rager scored 5 first-quarter points to help the Lady Rebels to a 14-10 advantage after the first quarter.

Amy Brumfield began the second quarter with a steal and a layup, but the Lady Rebels only managed 3 more points before halftime.  The Lady Cougars scored 13 to take a 23-19 lead at the break.

Todd County started slowly in the second half, being outscored 16-5 in the third quarter.  Sarah Hale led the charge for the Lady Cougars with 7 points, while Paige Vanzant added 6.

Logan County stretched the lead to 21 after a Hale 3-pointer with just over 5 minutes to play, before going on to a 52-35 victory.

Brumfield was the only Lady Rebel in double figures with 16, including 6 in the fourth quarter.  Rager finished with 6.

Hale scored 12 in the second half to lead the Lady Cougars with 16.  Vanzant and Kennedy Nichols both scored 10.
