Former Christian County standout KeyRon Catlett has committed to play football at Hampton University in 2019.  Pirates Head Coach Robert Prunty announced Catlett’s decision on social media Wednesday.

Catlett announced last month that he was transferring from Purdue after two seasons at the Big 10 school.

The Christian County alum originally committed to Western Kentucky University and Coach Jeff Brohm but decommitted and followed Brohm to Purdue.

Catlett appeared in seven games as a freshman and returned five kickoffs for 62 yards.

He appeared in 10 games on special teams in 2018 but hasn’t caught a pass in his two seasons as a Boilermaker. Catlett saw his kickoff return duties diminish with Rondale Moore’s arrival in West Lafayette.

Catlett was an all-state selection at Christian County where he finished with 3,614 career receiving yards and 36 touchdowns.

Hampton is an FCS school that finished 7-3 last year and will enter the Big South Conference in 2019.  The conference, which is also adding North Alabama, has an automatic berth in the FCS postseason tournament.

The Pirates averaged 34 points and 216 passing yard per game last year.
