Thomas Goes the Distance for UHA in Win Over Webster County

The UHA Blazers rebounded from a tough loss in the 2nd Region All A Classic by knocking off Webster County 4-1 Friday night. The Blazers got a solid complete game effort from Tanner Thomas in picking up the win.

The Blazers got to the lead in their very first at-bat. Tanner Thomas walked and then later scored on an RBI single from Dan Johnson. Johnson would then score on a single by Luke Welch to make it 2-0 after ½ inning.

UHA extended the lead in the top of the 4th inning. Dan Johnson singled and then scored on a fielder’s choice by Ben Stone. Luke Welch would score on a wild pitch later in the inning to make it a 4-0 lead.

Thomas kept the Trojans in check until the bottom of the 6th inning. Webster County used a walk and back to back singles to cut the lead to 4-1. Thomas was then able to close the door in the 6th, and shut the Trojans down in the bottom of the 7th to close out the win.

Dan Johnson led the Blazers, going 2-3, with an RBI, and two runs scored. Luke Welch was 1-2, with an RBI, and a run scored.

Tanner Thomas went the distance for the Blazers, giving up one run, on just three hits, striking out seven, and walking one.
