Hoptown Lady Tigers Overcome Slow Start to Rout Christian Fellowship

After falling behind early, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers used a big 3rd inning rally to lead them to their fourth win in their last five games Tuesday evening. The Lady Tigers went on the road and came back with the 16-6 win over Christian Fellowship.

The Lady Eagles set Hoptown back on their heels early in the game. CFS scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead after the opening inning. The Lady Eagles combined three singles and three walks to come up with the early game runs.

Hopkinsville then responded in a big way in the top of the 3rd inning. Taylor Joachim opened the inning with a triple to centerfield, and the onslaught was on. Five of the first six hitters in the inning for the Lady Tigers reached base, as Hoptown cut the lead to 4-3 with two outs in the inning. Hopkinsville then strung together three singles, a walk, and a double, and by the time the inning ended, the Lady Tigers were in control 8-4.

Four straight hits in the top of the 4th allowed the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers to extende the lead to 10-4. CFS rallied in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own to make it a 10-6 game.

In the top of the 5th it was Marley Hancock’s turn. Hancock blasted a two run shot to left field to make it a 12-6 Lady Tiger lead. The Lady Tigers added some insurance in the top of the 6th when they scored on a ground out to make it 13-6. Hoptown tacked on three more in the top of the 7th on hits from Sebrina Hodge and Kaitlyn Kaetzel.

A big game for Taylor Joachim, who went 4-4, with a double, a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. Also a big night for Kaetzel, who was3-5, with a double, 5 RBIs, and a run scored. Sebrina Hodge was 3-5, with a double, and an RBI. Marley Hancock was 1-4, with a home run, and three RBIs.

In the circle, Marley Hancock went the distance for the Lady Tigers to pick up the win, giving up six runs, on just five hits, and striking out four.
