Once he got his scholarship offer from Kentucky coach John Calipari it didn’t take long for 6-6 Johnny Juzang of California to respond.

Juzang announced Wednesday on social media that he was reclassifying to the 2019 recruiting class and probably will make his college choice in the “next few weeks” — which seems like good news for Kentucky which had Calipari and assistant coach Joel Justus visit him on April 19.

Juzang thanked his high school coaches, trainers, teachers and staff for making his three years “special” for him. Juzang is a top 20 player in the 2020 recruiting class. He turned 18 in March — which makes him older now that former UK players like Devin Booker and Kevin Knox were when they got to Kentucky.

Rivals.com recruiting writer Krysten Peek says Juzang is a reliable scorer and could be a needed outside shooter for UK. However, he’s also considered an above average rebounder.

He averaged 23 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game during his high school season and played for Compton Magic on the Adidas circuit last summer.

Juzang, who took an official visit to Virginia in October, gave no hints Wednesday about his college choice. He is set to visit Kentucky April 29 and also has interest in Villanova.
