PREVIEW – Lady Wildcats to Field Young Volleyball Squad in 2019 (w/VIDEO)

Trigg County will field a young volleyball team long on athletic ability for fourth-year head coach Doug Hargrove in 2019.

The Lady Wildcats are two years removed from winning back to back district titles. However, a win in the region tournament has eluded Trigg County since the program began in 2000.

Trigg County must work to replace hitter Lexie Wright, who graduated as the school’s all-time kills leader, and Chloe Williamson among a four-player senior class.

The Lady Wildcats return junior Iyanna Grubbs, who is among the most improved players in the region over the past two seasons. Junior Hannan Fletcher, senior Courtney Leudenberg, and sophomore McKenna Green will be looked at to replace Wright and Hannah McNichols at the net.

Sophomores Savannah Garnett and Megan Hicks will be expected to facilitate the offense at the net, while sophomore Skye Williamson will see time at the libero.
Senior Jesse Siegmund will anchor the back line.

Trigg County saw their win total drop from 17 to nine last year. There are just two seniors on the 2019 roster which means Hargrove will have the luxury to get many of his younger players – including a large sophomore class – floor experience.

The Lady Wildcats open their season Tuesday at Webster County.
