With five starters out and two more going down Thursday night, the Todd County Central girls soccer team stood toe-to-toe with visiting Muhlenberg County over forty minutes, before wearing down in a 7-1 loss to the Lady Mustangs.

The Lady Rebels drop their second-straight to stand at 7-7 overall, while the Lady Mustangs also even their record at 6-6.  Todd County returns to the field on Monday for an important 13th-District meeting with Franklin-Simpson.  The Lady Rebels won the first match-up with the Lady Wildcats 4-3.

The Lady Mustangs were on the board just eight minutes in when Abby Dukes found the back of the net on a breakaway, but the Todd County defense would stiffen and the lead was only 1-0 at the break.

Things went downhill quickly in the second half, with Brooklyn Whitehouse scoring off Filippa Kingdon’s corner kick to double the Lady Mustangs’ advantage.  Whitehouse was on the board again a short time later, but the Lady Rebels answered on a goal from Cassie Hernandez for a 3-1 score.

It was all Muhlenberg from there, with Rilen Gettings and Dukes scoring just a minute apart, followed by Kingdon and Taylor Cornette with a goal each for the 7-1 final.
