Henderson County handed Hopkinsville their first loss to a region team since 2015 this week in Henderson. The 3-0 win keeps the Colonels unbeaten in region play this year and moves them into the top spot in the YSE Super 7.

1) Henderson County (10-1-2) – The Colonels snapped Hopkinsville’s 40-match unbeaten streak Tuesday with a 3-0 win over the Tigers although it should be pointed out that Henderson tied Hoptown twice during that stretch. The Colonel defense has recorded shutouts in six of their last seven matches and have allowed only 12 goals all season. The only region opponents left for the Colonels are Christian County (Sept. 26) and Trigg County (Sept. 28).

2) Hopkinsville (7-5-1) – It was around this time last year that Hoptown got their affairs in order and ran off a winning streak that propelled them into the state semifinals. Coach Tyler Stallons is looking to fix an inconsistent Tiger offense that has seen them get blanked in three of their last four matches and score twice in a 2-1 win over University Heights. Hoptown still has another match coming up with Warren Central Saturday and an Oct. 1 matchup with Trigg County.

3) Madisonville (7-3-1) – The Maroons dropped a pair of close matches to the two best teams in Owensboro – Daviess County and Owensboro High. They host their annual Donley Classic Saturday and will square off against Logan County (5-6) and Ohio County (10-3-1). They will have district games coming up in the next week against both Caldwell County and Hopkins County Central.

4) University Heights (8-3) – The Blazers carry a three-game winning streak into this weekend’s All-A Classic State Soccer Tournament where they will play Louisville Holy Cross in the first round. They have won seven of nine overall with the only two setbacks coming to Madisonville and Hopkinsville. After Frankfort, the Blazers will see both Trigg County and Webster County next week.

5) Trigg County (10-1) – The Wildcats are off to their best start in seven years and have won four straight. Their only defeat to date was a 2-1 loss to Paducah Tilghman, who UHA beat 3-0 Tuesday. The Wildcat defense has allowed nine goals in 11 games but will see their schedule strengthen in the coming week with contests against Ohio County, University Heights, and Caldwell County.

6) Webster County (3-7-1) – The Trojans have dropped three of their last four and will see Madisonville, University Heights, and Hopkinsville in the next 11 days.

7) Fort Campbell (4-7-1) – The Falcons are 2-0-1 in their last three games, and their defense has allowed just 2.5 goals over their last four matches. Only one of Fort Campbell’s seven remaining matches are at home. They will see Christian County again Saturday at the Colonel Showcase.
