On a night when he returned from a two-game absence, Trigg County’s Will Jolly blasted a second-half shot from distance to break a 1-1 deadlock and give the Wildcats a 2-1 victory over hosts Mayfield.

The come-from-behind win wraps up regular-season play for the Wildcats with a record of 13-3-2.  They will begin postseason play at Lyon County on Monday in the 5th-District title game.

After some confusion on a Mayfield corner kick, the Cardinals took the lead in the 15th minute by way of a Wildcat own goal.  Despite Trigg County pouring on the pressure, Mayfield goalkeeper Diego Juarez made the lead stand up at halftime.

Trigg County pulled even when Keller Nichols found the back of the net off an assist from Anthony Ethridge with 24:30 to play.  The Wildcats pressed hard for the winner, with the breakthrough coming with 16:50 left by way of a 25-yard blast by Jolly.  After taking a pass from Cristian Llarena, Jolly beat a couple of Cardinal defenders to find space before smacking his shot past Juarez.

Matthew Smith made 5 saves in goal to earn the win for the Wildcats, while Juarez made 7 stops.
