Mikie Venable of Heritage Christian Academy was named to the KCAA All-State Tournament Team Saturday. The junior defender was solid for the Warriors in their 3-0 loss to Assumption Academy in the semifinals Thursday.
Assumption went on to beat Somerset Christian 3-2 in two overtimes Saturday to claim the state title and end Somerset’s eight-year run as KCAA state champions.
Joseph Condit, who scored two goals in Assumption’s win over HCA, was named the tournament MVP.
