Lyon County is looking to continue the momentum they built before Christmas as they join nine teams at the Community Christian Lady Warrior Classic in Paducah this week.
Lyon begins play on the tourney’s second day when they face the winner of Christian Fellowship (3-3) and Pope County, Ill. (6-4) Friday at two.
The Lady Lyons won two of three games at the Whitesville Trinity pre-Christmas tourney. The game they lost to the host school saw them play without two starters.
Lyon County has tasted some success in the CCA event over the past two seasons. They finished as runner-up in 2017 and in third place last year.
If Lyon County wins their first game Friday, they will play the winner of the Community Christian/Joppa-Maple, Ill. game in the semifinals Friday night at 8. If they lose their opener, they will play Saturday at noon.
The full 10-team field in addition to Lyon County includes University Heights (3-4), Lake County, Tenn. (3-5), Trigg County (6-2), Carlisle County (4-3), Ballard Memorial (5-4), Christian Fellowship (3-3), Community Christian (3-5), Joppa-Maple Grove, Ill. (0-5), and Pope County, Ill. (6-4).
