Caldwell County put up a fight, but Madisonville-North Hopkins did what the Maroons usually do in the fourth quarter.

A 3-pointer by Cayden Fraliex had the visiting Tigers within 51-46 with still 5:28 to play.

But Madisonville ran off 10 straight points as part of a 15-2 run to close the game, and finished off a perfect regular-season run through the 7th District with a 66-48 victory Friday night over the Tigers.

It was the 11th straight victory for the Maroons, who improved to 22-3 overall and 6-0 in the district. The defending 2nd Region champions will be the No. 1 seeds for the district tourney later this month.

Caldwell, now 9-14 and 2-2, led 6-0 early behind a pair of 3-pointers from Tripp Branch.

The Tigers tried to throw a scare into Madisonville on Senior Night at Maroon Gym.

Madisonville led 14-12 after one quarter and 30-23 at halftime.

Caldwell got as close as 42-39 on a Fraliex bucket late in the third quarter.

However, a stickback by K’suan Casey and then a 3-pointer by Marquise Parker just ahead of the horn sent Madisonville to the final stanza with a 47-39 advantage.

Five points was as close as Caldwell could get in the fourth quarter before the Maroons blew open the game over the final 5-plus minutes to win by 18 points.

Casey had 20 points to pace the Maroons. Kenny White, who committed to play college basketball at Tennessee Tech earlier in the day, had 15 points. Parker finsihed with 12.

Adarius Riley led Caldwell with 16 points.

Madisonville has taken its last eight meetings with Caldwell and leads the all-time series 83-11.

The Maroons get an early wake-up call on Saturday. They will play at 12:15 p.m. in Bowling Green in the Wes Strader Schoolboy Shootout at Warren Central, facing Louisville Butler.

Caldwell plays again on Monday when it travels to Hopkins County Central for a district makeup date.

Madisonville will host the 7th District tournament starting Monday, Feb. 24.
