His team was the last to finish the entire season in Kentucky unbeaten, and now he is going into the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has announced its 2020 Class, and Brewers High School’s Coy Creason is among the inductees.

Creason was the Kentucky Player of the Year in 1948, when his Brewers Redmen rolled through an unbeaten season and to the Sweet 16 championship. Creason would be named to the All-State and All-Tournament teams that year, as he had also been in 1947.

The Marshall County school finished 1948 at 36-0, the only team since the Ashland team of 1928 to finish the year as an unbeaten state champion. In the history of the Boys’ Sweet Sixteen, 22 teams have taken a perfect record into the state tournament, but only two have survived to win the championship: Ashland (27-0) in 1928, and Brewers (36-0) in 1948.

Creason would go on to a be a star player at Memphis State University.
