Three Lady Colonels Named to Preseason All-Region Team

Three Christian County players have been named to the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association preseason All-Second Region Team.

Senior Hope Jones, and sophomores Pickle Winkler and Serenity Shemwell were both named to the 10-player list by the coaches.

Jones, who is headed to play at Murray State in the fall, hit .364 last year with five home runs and 38 RBIs.  18 of her 39 hits went for extra bases.

Winkler hit .424 with a pair of home runs and 22 RBIs.  She stole 30 bases in 32 attempts last year.

Shemwell hit .337 for the Lady Colonels in 2019 with 13 home runs and 42 RBIs.

Other players named to the preseason coaches All-Region Team were: Calista Collins and Sydney Melton of Lyon County; Kaytlyn Kemp and Sophie Margelot of Henderson County; Courtney Peyton of Madisonville; Ashlyn Hicks of Crittenden County; and Grace Scott of Webster County.

Other players receiving votes in the coaches’ preseason player poll were: Madi Choate of Caldwell County, Kaylyn Conger of Lyon County, Hadlee Carter and Graci Thomas of Webster County, and Kelsie Hill of Henderson County.
