Caldwell County High School will be recognizing its spring sports athletes this weekend with an emphasis on the seniors.

The school has planned a Light the Night for spring sports this Saturday night, May 9.

The sports that will be recognized are baseball, softball, track and tennis.

The school would like for family, friends and the community to gather in the CAB parking lot at 8 p.m. Saturday with cars decorated. Vehicles will exit out of the CAB lot towards the tennis courts. The caravan will drive past the tennis courts, out the fieldhouse drive and then make its way through town to the baseball and softball fields at the Ratliff Park Complex.

“It is our hope that as many people that can will participate in the ‘parade’ for athletes. There will be special senior recognition at each of the facilities,” said Caldwell athletic director Kim Farmer. “It is of the utmost importance that only household members be in the same cars and remain in cars during this time. It is unfortunate that their season had to come to such an abrupt end. This is our small way of honoring them.”

Tennis has three seniors — Belle Englebright, Maddie Morgan and Shelton Cansler. Baseball has three seniors — Cody Holub, Brian Owen and Trace Lacy. Softball also has three seniors — Madi Choate, Karlie Rennison and Ashlynn Dearing.

Track did not have time before the mandatory dead period to determine if there were going to be any seniors on that team.

Anyone with additional questions should contact Farmer at kim.farmer@caldwell.kyschools.us or call the high school at 270-365-8010.

Again, all Caldwell athletes and the community are invited to participate.
