Claire Knoth didn’t know on Monday that she would be playing in Tuesday’s Bluegrass Golf Tour stop at the Bowling Green Country Club. When a spot came open Monday night, Knoth was added to the field. She carded a 105 in her opening round of the summer to finish in 17th place as she prepares for her sophomore season at Caldwell County.
Knoth gained her footing throughout the round on a cloudy day in Bowling Green and had two pars on the back nine.
Apollo’s Macey Brown, last year’s Region 2 runner-up, shot a 4-over 76 to win the tour’s third event of the year.
Knoth plans on being active on both the Bluegrass Tour and Kentucky Junior PGA this summer.
