A sizzling opening round on the golf course Wednesday nearly ended up leading Marshall County’s Jay Nimmo to a win on the SNEDS Tour. Playing at the Windyke Country Club – East Course, in Memphis, Nimmo’s two day score of -7 was good enough to put him in second place for the event, three shots behind the winner, J.J. Zimmer, of Humboldt, Tennessee.
Nimmo was in a strong position to take the event after the opening round. He scorched the course for a seven under par on Wednesday.
However, Nimmo cooled off some on Thursday, shooting an even par 72. That was enough of an opening for Zimmer, who trailed by just one shot after Wednesday’s opening round of play, to sneak through and take the three shot win.
Nimmo finished four shots ahead of Madisonville’s Jackson Hill, who was -3 for the tournament.
