A personal best round nearly carried Christian County grad Hannah Sumner to a win on the Bluegrass Golf Tour Wednesday at the Hopkinsville Golf & Country Club. Sumner’s round of 78 was just one shot behind Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown, who won the event with a 5-over par 77.

Sumner had a chance to tie Brown on the final hole, but her putt to tie would not go down, as Brown held on for the one shot win. Both Brown and Sumner had their issues over the final three holes, with each having a double bogey on #16 and a bogey on #18.

Sumner shot a 3-over par 38 on the front nine. She was even par on the front until the final three holes before the turn. Sumner finished the day with a 3-over par 40 on the back side.

Sumner finished one shot ahead of Lauren Gilchrist, of Marion, who finished the day in 3rd place.
