Virginia is the latest state to make a significant modification to its high school sports schedule for the 2020-2021 school year. The Virginia High School League announced its decision Monday morning.

The VHSL Executive Committee voted Monday morning to delay fall sports until the spring as a part of a revised sports calendar for the year. The decision will delay any high school sports in the state until at least December.

Under the plan approved Monday, winter sports in Virginia will begin December 14 and run through February 20. Fall sports will now see their calendar begin February 15 and run through May 1st.

Spring sports in the VHSL are now slated to begin in April and run through the month of June.
