After trailing at three different times in Thursday night’s match at Todd County Central, the Trigg County boys’ soccer team pulled out a 6-4 victory behind 5 goals from senior Will Jolly.  The win evens the Wildcats’ record at 1-1, while the Rebels slip to 0-3.

Jolly opened the scoring inside of the first five minutes when he drew a foul in the box and connected on the penalty kick, but the Rebels answered with two goals in two minutes from Mikey Everett to take the lead.

Jolly was on target from the penalty spot again to tie things up with twelve minutes left in the half, but the Rebels again jumped in front on a goal from Chi Herrera.  Jolly completed his first-half hat trick off an assist from Ben Futrell, and the teams were knotted 3-3 at the break.

Only three minutes into the second half, Todd County took its final advantage off a Trigg own goal after a scramble in front of the net, but it lasted less than four minutes.  Jolly thundered home a 30-yard free-kick that tucked in under the crossbar with thirty minutes to play, and the Wildcat defense held on from there.

Fifteen minutes later, Futrell took advantage of a misplaced Rebel pass to jump on the loose ball and score from close range to put the Wildcats in front for good.  Jolly added the insurance goal on another free-kick with a couple of minutes left for the final score.

After playing without three starters against the Rebels, the Wildcats will be back to full strength when they welcome Muhlenberg County to Cadiz on Saturday.  Todd County will also be in action on Saturday with a 4th-Region All “A” Classic meeting with Monroe County.
