Lady Lyons Blank Trigg 3-0 in 5th District Match

Lyon County got goals from three different players as the Lady Lyons blanked Trigg County 3-0 Monday in 5th District play at the Trigg Recreation Complex.

It was Lyon’s second straight win after opening the season with three losses.

Rose Smith scored from about 35 yards out in the 24th minute to stake the Lady Lyons to a 1-0 lead.

It was still a one-goal game midway through the second half, but the Lady Lyons later added two tallies to put the game away.

Leah Schroeder scored from in front of the net in the 64th minute following a throw-in from Smith. That made it 2-0.

Samantha Hooper added an unassisted goal in the 74th minute, finding the back of the net after a shot from Schroeder on a free kick hit off the crossbar.

Lyon is 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the district. The Lady Wildcats are 2-2 and 1-1.

The Lady Lyons held a 17-14 advantage in shots.

Maddie Russell made 10 stops in the Lyon net to record the shutout.

Sarah Sink had six saves for Trigg.

Lyon will face district foe Crittenden County in its next two games. The Lady Lyons host the Lady Rockets on Tuesday before traveling to Marion on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats will go to Paducah Tilghman on Thursday.
