At this point in the season, it appears that 2nd Region boys soccer is a three horse race at the front, with others trying to chase down the leaders as we head towards the final turn. The defending champs, for the moment, have a slight edge over #2 and #3 in this week’s YSE 2nd Region Boys’ Soccer Super 7.
– Madisonville (3-2-1) – The Maroons dropped a close one to Calloway County and then rebounded with a big win over Webster County. Big one against Henderson set for September 28.
- Henderson County (3-1) – Colonels lost to a very good Daviess County team in their only matchup of the week. Still one of the teams that could walk away with the regional title.
– UHA (5-0) – The Blazers have given up only one goal in their five wins. A big test coming up tonight in the All A sectional round as they travel to take on Murray.
- Hopkinsville (1-4) – Tigers were manhandled a bit in their loss to UHA, and the rebounded with a solid effort in a tough loss to Calloway County, who also knocked off #1 Madisonville.
– Caldwell County (2-1) – Tigers picked up a win over Paducah Tilghman in their only action of the week. Some key games ahead for this bunch of Tigers.
– Hopkins Central (3-4) – The Storm gave more than a respectable performance in a loss to UHA. Snared wins over Christian County and Butler County over the past week.
– Webster County (2-3) – Ran into a buzzsaw in their loss to UHA. Then took a big loss to #1 Madisonville. Have some talent on this bunch, but need to find a way to get it rolling all at once.
