There was no one factor that closed the deal for Skyy Clark with Kentucky. However, the Nashville junior point guard said there was one factor that stood out above the others.

“My relationship with (assistant) coach (Joel) Justus was the biggest thing,” the 6-2 Clark said. “Coach Cal, we all know what kind of person he is. Then there is all that history behind Kentucky. Watching the (NBA) bubble period was amazing. Even Tyler Herro, a rookie, was great.”

Clark’s father, Kenny, a former NFL receiver, said it was impossible to go wrong with a “legendary” coach like John Calipari but also praised Justus.

“Coach Justus was amazing. He recruited Skyy non-stop,” Kenny Clark said.

Kenny Clark also paid attention to the success former Wildcats had in the NBA bubble.

“That speaks a lot to player development and how well they prepare you at Kentucky for the next level,” the UK recruit’s father said. “Those guys are all great players but they all speak on how Cal prepares you for the next level.

“They are going at each other every day in practice. Iron sharpens iron. Not saying other places don’t have that but if you are a kid with NBA dreams, you know Kentucky is the place for you.”
