While most 2nd Region schools restarted their plans for winter sports Monday, the region’s largest school will not get things going again until after the first of the New Year. According to information from the Henderson Gleaner, the Henderson County Board of Education voted Monday night to continue the shutdown of winter sports until January 4.
January 4 is the date that the KHSAA Board of Control voted to allow teams to begin competition. The KHSAA voted last week to allow winter sports teams to begin practice on December 14.
During their meeting Monday night, the Henderson County Board of Education also voted to start their winter sports seasons just a week after allowing practices to begin, with competition allowed to begin on January 11.
The vote to delay until January 4 was 3-2.
