
A strong defensive effort for the Apollo E-Gals led the way as the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers dropped their third straight game since returning to action. Apollo limited the Lady Tigers to just two first quarter points on their way to a 60-32 win Friday night at Tiger Gym.
Despite being limited to just two points in the opening quarter, Hopkinsville’s defense was able to keep the Lady Tigers in the game early, The Lady Tigers only allowed Apollo ten points in the opening eight minutes as the E-Gals took the 10-2 lead. The only Hoptown points in the quarter came as the result of free throws.
With Hopkinsville struggling from the field, the E-Gals were able to extend their lead in the second quarter. By halftime, the margin had grown to 16 points at 27-11.
Coming out of the locker room to start the second half, Hopkinsville found a bit of an offensive stride, scoring more points in the quarter than in the entire first half. Still, Apollo was able to extend the lead to 44-23 rolling into the 4th quarter.
The E-Gals put the game away with a big run early in the 4th quarter, with reserves seeing much of the action over the final minutes of the game, as Apollo cruised on out to the 28 point win.
The loss drops Hopkinsville to 1-3. The Lady Tigers return to action Tuesday night at home against Graves County.
Apollo improves to 3-3 for the year.
