Offensive struggles in the final quarter were the undoing for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Friday night. Union County’s defense allowed the Lady Tigers just six points over the final eight minutes as the Bravettes broke a third-quarter tie to pick up the 46-40 win at Tiger Gym.

It had been the Lady Tigers’ defense that got them back into the game in the third quarter, as they rallied from a five-point halftime deficit by holding Union County to just 9 points in the third quarter to tie the game at 34-34 heading into the final eight minutes. Shiyah Forte and Donisha Flowers scored 12 of Hoptown’s fourteen points in the quarter to lead the rally.

It appeared as if the Bravettes were making some headway in the second quarter, as they moved out to a 25-20 halftime lead.

Free throws were a big part of the win for Union County. The Bravettes finished the night 18 of 24 from the line. Hoptown ended up 12 of 23 from the charity stripe.
