Landon Young should have answered lot of NFL questions with his Pro Day showing

During his interviews so far with NFL personnel Landon Young has been asked a lot about his ability to play different positions. He was a left tackle at Kentucky but he has a quick answer.

“I tell them I am a four-position player (either tackle, either guard). Wherever they put me I will compete and be the best I can,” Young said Tuesday.

Young also knows his lack of pass blocking experience in UK’s run-oriented offense has been a “little bit of a concern” to some NFL personnel because they have not been able to see him in pass protection.

“Whether you like it or not, the NFL is a passing league and you have got to be able to pass protect,” Young said.

He believed Pro Day would give him a chance to “put up good numbers” and show his athleticism.

Young did that Wednesday.

He had a nine-foot long jump and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds, a solid time for a 6-6, 310-pound offensive lineman. His vertical jump was 30 1/2 inches.

But where Young made the biggest impression was doing 34 reps on the 225-pound bench press.

Combine all those numbers and any questions NFL teams had about Young’s athleticism or knee injury from two years ago should have been answered.
