Behind a monster night from sophomore Ty Hunt, the University Heights Academy baseball team picked up a run-shortened 10-0 victory and earned the regular-season sweep of Fort Campbell.

Hunt (1-1), who went 3-for-4, stole a base, and drove in three of the Blazers’ 10 runs, also struck out nine and earned a three-hit shutout on the bump for UHA, which was playing its fourth game in six days.

Heights seized control early with a five-spot in the second inning, sparked by a two-run single from Eston Glover and a two-run Falcon error off the bat of senior Seth Hancock.

Hunt and Glover would ultimately combine for four of UHA’s eight hits and half of the team’s runs batted in. Hitting in the leadoff spot, Hancock went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and drew a walk in four plate appearances, while John DeArmond was 1-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and a walk.

Freshman Cole Glover ended the game in the bottom of the fifth, scoring on a Fort Campbell error to give UHA a mercy-rule home win.

Hunt was consistent on the mound, delivering strikes on 50 of his 77 pitches. He only walked a pair and faced only 20 batters in five innings during his first victory of the year.

UHA (3-3) gets one day off before a key 8th District series with Christian County, beginning April 8 at CCHS.

Angel Garcia (0-2) took the loss for the Falcons, who dropped their fourth straight decision to open the 2021 season. Garcia walked four and allowed 10 runs, but only four were earned following four FCHS defensive errors.

Garcia was one of three Fort Campbell players to record hits, joining Andrew Haughenberry and Anthony Gonzalez in the column.

The Falcons (0-4) will look for their first win on April 10 at Kenwood (TN) in Clarksville, before taking on Caldwell County on April 12 in the All “A” 2nd Region Tournament.
