HCA Picks Up 12-7 Road Win at Cornerstone

The Heritage Christian Warriors used a big-hitting night to build a big lead and then hold on for the win Monday. HCA pounded out 13 hits and built a 12-1 lead before settling in for a 12-7 win at Cornerstone.

The Warriors scored in each of their first four at-bats, plating three runs in the first, five runs in the second, a single score in the third, and three more in the fourth to seize the 12-1 lead.

HCA got RBI singles from Trenton Hayes and David Jent in the first. Jent and Grant Floyd came up with the big hits in the five-run second inning. Hayes added another RBI single in the third. The big hit in the fourth inning was a two-run double off bat of Floyd.

Warrior pitching got a little shaky in the bottom of the 5th, giving up five walks and six runs before finally closing out the game.

Grant Floyd was 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and a run scored. Trenton Hayes ended up 4-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. David Jent finished 2-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Jackson Thompson got the start on the mound for the Warriors, going 4 2/3-innings, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on just two hits, striking out nine, while walking three.
