Livingston Central Blanks Lady Blazers

4-26-suarez

Threes were wild for eighth-grade center fielder Emersyn Ramage on Monday during the Livingston Central softball team’s 15-0 home win over University Heights Academy. Hitting out of the nine-hole, Ramage went 3-for-3, scored three runs, and drove in three more during the Cardinals’ four-inning victory.

Ramage paced an offensive onslaught that included 12 RBIs on nine hits. Victoria Joiner, who doubled and scored on a sacrifice bunt to give Livingston its first lead in the first inning, launched a two-run homer later in the contest to give her squad an 11-0 lead. Sydney Lasher ended the game early with a two-out RBI double in the fourth inning, giving LCHS its eighth win in 12 games.

While Joiner and Lasher (3-for-4, six RBIs, and five RBIs combined) were also integral in the lineup, sophomore pitcher Madeline Norton was equally effective in the circle. She threw a three-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none. Norton delivered strikes in 41 of 51 pitches and only allowed one Heights batter to advance beyond first base.

The Blazers, who dropped their second straight contest, got two of their three hits from leadoff hitter Regan Pollard, and another single from Brianna Daniel. UHA’s Mallory Ladd took the loss, allowing nine hits and nine runs in 1 2/3 innings of work. Pollard finished the game in relief and gave up six runs.

UHA (3-4) will play its second of three straight road games on April 27 at Trigg County, while Livingston Central travels to Eddyville on the same day to play 2021 All “A” State Champion Lyon County.
