Coaches Name Lyon’s Calista Collins to Class 1A All-State First Team

The Kentucky Softball Coaches Association has honored Lyon County’s Calista Collins, along with three of her Lady Lyon teammates. Collins, who has decided to return for an extra year of eligibility, is among those named to the 2021 Class 1A All-State First Team.

Collins played a big role in the Lady Lyons reaching the 2nd Region semifinals and she helped to lead Lyon County to the 2021 All A state championship. The Lady Lyons finished the year with a record of 26-10.

Collins was the team’s second-leading hitter with a batting average of .475. She finished the season with 14 home runs, which was second on the team, and good enough to be ninth in the state. She finished 25th in the state in doubles with 16. Collins ended the season with 55 RBIs, which led the team and put her 16th in the state. She scored 52 runs, which also earned her a Top 25 finish in Kentucky.

Collins’ teammate Sydney Melton was also named to the first team, while Kaelyn Conger and Katelyn Dykes were named to the second team by the state’s softball coaches.
