Hoppers Conclude Long Road Stretch With Win at Owensboro

The Hoptown Hoppers wrapped up one of its longest road stretches of the season with a 6-2 win at Owensboro Wednesday.

Jake Parr doubled as part of his two-hit, two-RBI night for the Hoppers. His two-run single in the third inning put the Hoppers ahead 2-0.

Hoptown scored its final four runs on three ground outs and an Owensboro error.

The game only featured 10 hits between the teams, but pitchers issued 17 walks.

Drew Leach got the pitching win for the Hoppers while Chase Gruno nailed down his league-leading fourth save.  Leach struck out four and allowed just two hits in five innings.

Seven of Hoptown’s last eight games were on the road with the Hoppers going 4-3.  The Hoppers [10-7] return home Thursday to play Fulton.  Hoptown is in third place in the OVL South standings, five games behind first-place Full County and a half-game behind second-place Fulton.
