Kentucky football made early offer to rising star Olaus Alinen of Finland

Olaus Alinen has a lot of major scholarship offers and is likely to get a lot more.

Kentucky’s offensive line prowess continues to grow each season and the UK coaching staff doesn’t want that to change. That’s why almost a year ago it was one of the first schools to offer 6-7, 310-pound offensive tackle Olaus Alinen of Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut before he even left Finland for the U.S.

His offer list has just continued to grow and he also has offers now from Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, California, Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Virginia and West Virginia.

He is ranked No. 186 in the ESPN top 300 and is a top 150 prospect on the 247Sports Composite.

“Olaus has elite size for a player in the 2023 (recruiting) class. He never stops working and that’s why he has great power. He has terrific length. He’ll only get better as his footwork and flexibility improve.”

Alinen is from Finland. His father, Klaus was the first Finish player to ever sign a NFL contract. Klaus Alinen played for Berlin in NFL Europe and spent a year on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad and was nicknamed “Hulk.”

Olaus Alnen has indirect ties to Kentucky as he works out with former NFL defensive end Bjoern Werner who was coached by Mark Stoops at Florida State. Current UK defensive coordinator Brad White coached Werner when he played for the Indianapolis Colts.

Moore expects more offers to come Alinen’s way once more schools have a chance to watch him play this season.

“It is not easy to find the kind of length he has, especially with his athleticism,” Moore said. “That’s rare for a high school lineman his size.”
