
The Caldwell County Middle School football teams opened the season with wins on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
CCMS swept James Madison Middle School, with the eighth grade Tigers prevailing 18-14 while the seventh grade Tigers rolled 36-12.
For the eighth graders, Cooper Mobley scored three times to account for all of Caldwell’s scoring.
He ran 39 yards for a score in the first quarter. Mobley caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jack Roach in the second quarter. Roach and Mobley hooked up again in the third period for a 60-yard scoring pass.
In the seventh grade game, Ari Wells scored a pair of touchdowns for the Tigers. He had a 48-yard touchdown run early and later caught a 16-yard scoring pass. Daelyn Lander passed for two TDs and also returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown.
The CCMS Tigers are scheduled to play at Union County on Tuesday.
