Wan’Dale Robinson is not about to be tricked into saying something he shouldn’t any more than he’s going to be fooled by any defenses teams may throw at him this year. The Nebraska transfer knows he’s being counted on as a big-time playmaker and he would not drop any hints Saturday about whether he thought Beau Allen, Will Levis or Joey Gatewood should be UK’s starting quarterback when the season opens September 4.
“Will, obviously you guys saw that, it’s just a rocket. Joey, those deep balls, they just drop right in. Beau, he makes all the throws, does everything really well, too,” Robinson said when asked about who he might like to catch balls from. “All of them have their strengths and weaknesses, but I think all three of them do a really, really good job.”
Remember earlier last week that UK associate coach Vince Marrow indicated that he felt Levis was doing more good things consistently in practice than Allen and Gatewood.
Robinson would not go there — and probably should not — because his job does not change no matter who is starting at quarterback.
“If the ball is thrown, that’s my job. I’ve got to go catch the football,” Robinson said. “You know who’s back there and know how it’s going to come out.
“Whenever the ball is in the air, at the end of the day, it’s your job to catch the football. It doesn’t matter how fast it’s coming or anything, it’s just one thing: catch it.”

A hearty Amen on Robinson’s statement! But, just from a fan’s view, I hope Beau, the hometown kid, gets the nod. If I had to say who it will be right now based on what I have read and heard, I would say it will be Levis. I like the competition, and UK has some fine choices in the QB room. UK football is rising, and it is remarkable to see all this good talent in Blue and White on both sides of the ball.
