Despite taking an early lead and matching host Calloway County at the half in Monday night’s girls’ soccer contest, the Christian County Lady Colonels couldn’t find the back of the net in the second frame of a 5-2 loss to the Lady Lakers.

Looking to put a stop to a two-game slide, the Lady Colonels only needed seven minutes to get on the board on a goal by Autumn Bell.  It was her team-high sixth strike of the season.

Calloway answered through a pair of goals in a fifteen-minute span by Addi Schumacher, putting the Lady Lakers in front 2-1.  However, it was Christian County’s turn to respond, with Lilly Larkins providing the strike to tie the match just before halftime.

Bailey Provine put Calloway up for good just four minutes after the break, and Emily Hollan followed with a goal to double up the Lady Colonels 4-2.

Provine added her second goal of the match to round out the scoring, handing Christian County a third-straight defeat.

The Lady Colonels return to the field on Wednesday when Henderson County visits the Stadium of Champions.
