Top-Seeded Maroons Blank Caldwell for 7th District Title

Caldwell County has made major strides on the soccer pitch this season — and is headed to the 2nd Region tournament for the first time since 2017 — but Madisonville-North Hopkins has been a regional contender all along.

The top-seeeded Maroons never gave the Tigers must of a chance to build an upset bid in Wednesday’s 7th District championship match.

Host Madisonville put up the game’s first goal in less than 2 minutes, built a 3-0 lead by halftime, then pulled away after the break for a 7-0 victory.

Zach Bryant scored the early goal for the Maroons (17-3-2) and finished the night with a pair of tallies.

J.J. Brown had two goals and an assist while Sam Dodds had a goal and an assist. Eli Redpath and Ryerson Brower each added a goal,

Logan Terry recorded three helpers while Maverick Peyton added one assist.

Ethan Peyton needed to make just one save in the Madisonville net to record the shutout.

The Maroons dictated play most of the contest, outshooting Caldwell 34-4.

Corbin Nichols made nine saves for the Tigers (7-12-2).

Both Caldwell and Madisonville will play in the 2nd Region tourney next week at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.
