Jaylen Boyd has been named the Mid-South Conference Football Bluegrass Division Special Teams Player of the Week, officials at the conference office announced on Monday.

The Caldwell County product returned a kickoff from five yards deep in his own end zone for a touchdown in Lindsey Wilson’s win on Saturday. The official 100-yard touchdown is the longest in the program’s history.

The touchdown return came at the start of the third quarter to extend Lindsey Wilson’s lead. Boyd is averaging 63 yards per kickoff return in his two attempts this season.

Boyd picked up his first MSC weekly honor of the season and the fourth of his career.

Boyd is second on Caldwell’s career rushing list with 5,451 yards. He is the all-time leading rusher at Lindsey Wilson with 2,866 yards.
