
Heritage Christian Academy’s cross country teams had a strong showing at the KCAA State Cross Country Meet hosted by Community Christian Academy in Independence Saturday.
Freshman Taylor Morris finished second in the girls’ varsity race in a time of 28:51 over the 3.1-mile course.
In the boys’ varsity race, Tucker Wells came in 23rd place.
HCA’s girls’ middle school team won the state title as Makenzie McCarty won the individual title with a run of 16:02. Mekena Dalke was third and Emma Dalke finished in fourth place. Genna Calhoun came in ninth and Luanna Acree was 12th.
HCA beat second-place North Hardin Christian by 14 points to take the title.
HCA’s boys’ team finished in third place in the team standings. Bryce Light led the Warrior runners with a fourth-place finish. Cadyn Travis was seventh followed by Aaron Hensley in 13th place and Jordan Starks in 16th place.
