With soccer season over, Allison Wood can now concentrate on cross country as the region meet approaches next week.

Wood was a starter on Hopkinsville’s soccer team that lost in the region semifinals last week. She has been splitting time between the sports this fall, but the Lady Tiger senior’s focus appears strong as she won Saturday’s King and Queen of the West Invitational by nearly two minutes.

Wood’s time of 21:34 over the longer than advertised 3.1-mile course on the campuses of Christian County High School and Hopkinsville Community College bettered second-place Emma Madding of Graves County by 1:46.

Allison’s sister Rebecca finished in third place in 23:47 to help the Lady Tigers take the team title by 36 points over second-place Trigg County.

Lauren Mayes made up several places in the final mile to finish in fifth place in 24:21. Kayden Coats finished in ninth place followed by Evelyn Bangart in 23rd, Eva Blankenberger in 36th place, and Emily Bridges in 38th place.

Hopkinsville will run in the Class 3A Region 1 Meet next Saturday at Muhlenberg County.
