For a half, the Christian County defense did all it could to keep the Colonels in their game against Bowling Green Friday night while the offense struggled to find its bearings against the Purples’ defense. The Purples offense then erupted for 21 points on its first three possessions of the second half to run away from the Colonels for a 37-0 win on their new home turf.
The story of the opening half was the Bowling Green defense. The Purples limited the Colonels to just 82 total yards and three first downs. Two of the three first downs and 74 of the yards came on two completions from Jordan Miles to JaSean Riley on the last drive of the first quarter for Christian County. Even then the Bowling Green defense caught a break when the Colonels missed a 26-yard field goal on the opening play of the second quarter.
Meanwhile, the Purples got on the board on their first possession of the night. Deuce Bailey rambled for six yards on a quarterback keeper with 8:42 to go in the first to put Bowling Green up 7-0.

Three other times in the first half, Bowling Green would threaten, but each time the Colonel defense came up with a play to force the Purples to settle for field goals of 44, 22, and 37 yards, giving Bowling Green a 16-0 lead going into the break.
Offensively, things did not get much better for the Colonels in the second half. After totaling 82 yards in the opening half, the Christian County offense was held to 63 yards in the second half by the Purples’ defense.
And to make things worse, the Bowling Green offense found its legs coming out of the locker room. The Purples scored on their first three possessions of the second half. Bert Kibawa scored on a 12-yard run to make it 23-0 with 11:06 to go in the third. Jayden Axson rumbled in from three yards out with 6:31 to go in the third to extend the lead to 30-0. The scoring was capped off when Bert Kibawa scored again, this time on a nifty six-yard run to move the lead out to 37-0 with 2:20 left in the third.

From there, the rest of the game played out quickly with the running clock rule coming into effect.
Jordan Miles led Christian County on the ground with 34 yards rushing. Miles was also 7-15 through the air for 76 yards. The Bowling Green defense pressured Miles all night long, sacking him six times in the contest.
The loss drops Christian County to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the district, while Bowling Green improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in district competition.
