Kiyaunta Goodwin is still committed to Kentucky — at least for now. The massive five-star offensive lineman from Charlestown High School in Indiana made an official visit to Alabama over the weekend to see Alabama beat the Vols.
His visit was not a surprise to Kentucky coaches and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow encouraged Goodwin — like he has other recruits — to take the trip to make sure his commitment to UK was the right one for him.
Goodwin told Andrew Bone of BamaInsider.com that the game was “amazing” and he had never been in an atmosphere like the one at Alabama. Goodwin has attended four UK home games this season, including Florida and LSU.
Goodwin said Alabama coach Nick Saban told him he was one of the best “overall players” in the nation. Of course, Marrow and UK coach Mark Stoops have been telling him that for almost a year.
“What stands out to me about Alabama is that they play at the highest level,” Goodwin told Bone. “They will win national championships.”
Saban does have seven national championships, one fact Kentucky cannot counter.
Goodwin also plans visits to Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan but told Bone his commitment to UK remains “solid.” However, he does plan to keep a list of pros and cons of schools he visits as national signing day approaches in December and Kentucky no doubt still has work to do to secure the highest ranked commitment in its 2022 class.
