Dee Cain Grabs Interception as WKU Handles Charlotte

Caldwell County product Dee Cain had an interception on Saturday to help the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers rout Charlotte 45-13 on Homecoming weekend in Bowling Green.

The former Tiger standout picked off a Charlotte pass on fourth-and-4 at the WKU 27-yard line.

The Hilltoppers would quickly go 73 yards in just four plays to score a touchdown and take a 14-3 lead.

Cain also had four tackles in the contest, including two solos, and had a quarterback hurry to help the Hilltoppers win for the third-straight week while improving to 4-4 on the season and 3-1 in Conference USA.

A senior linebacker, Cain has played in all eight games this season with five starts.

He is tied for fifth on the team with 31 total tackles, including 14 solos. Cain has 1.5 sacks this season.

Saturday’s interception was the first of his college career.

Meanwhile, Bailey Zappe threw for 393 yards and four touchdowns for Western Kentucky, which led 28-13 at halftime. Zappe also ran for a score.

Cain and the Hilltoppers will host Middle Tennessee next Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6.
