Former Caldwell County Tiger Derrin Boyd was on fire Saturday afternoon.
Boyd poured in a career-high 32 points as Georgetown College routed Miami University Middletown (Ohio) 113-68.
The sophomore was 12 of 18 from the floor, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range.
At the free throw line, Boyd went 5 for 6. He is 11 of 12 at the stripe for the 2-0 Georgetown Tigers.
Boyd also had seven rebounds, four steals and an assist in 26 minutes of action.
He is now averaging 25.5 points a game this season.
Georgetown led 54-43 at halftime, then put the game away by outscoring Miami-Middletown 59-25 in the second half.
Boyd finished his high school career fourth on Caldwell’s career scoring list with 1,911 points. He averaged 24.0 points a game as a senior. Boyd is also fifth on Caldwell’s all-time rebounding list with 628 boards.
Boyd hit for 43 points in high school in a loss at University Heights. He also had a 41-point effort against Glasgow.
He is one of just two Caldwell players ever to record a triple-double when he had 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in a win at Crittenden County.
Georgetown plays again Tuesday night, hosting Midway University.
